Description

Flattened body, two vertical loop handles shoulder to neck, plain black flask with small applied monkey faces on neck

Narrow-necked jar/bottle with a lentoid body, hyperboloid neck, rounded rim, 2 strap handles extending from the neck to the body, and a flat base. An applique monkey head is attached to the neck. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in a reducing atmosphere as the surface is black and the interior is gray in color. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "3299."
