Description

Hide, with long quadrangular molded boss; obverse (except boss) shows punctate ornament of concentric circles, etc. The projection of the boss corresponds to a hollow in the reverse, which is crossed longitudinally by a short grip of hide. The shield is roughly oval in shape, with the long sides straight or very slightly concave. If found among the Dor, this shield is of a Nubian type; note escpecially the grip with its mode of attachment, and the molded ridge which crosses the boss.
