Description | Unfinished, cotton huipil in three panels. Center panel is red, woven two wefts to two warps. Side panels are white, plain weave. Brocaded in white, red, yellow, green, blue and black cotton. Designs of birds and geometric figures. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp center panel: 14 epi, two singles, Z twist, red cotton. Weft center panel: 17 ppi, two singles, Z twist, red cotton. Warp side panels: 17 epi, single ply, Z twist, white cotton. Weft side panels: 26 ppi, single ply, Z twist, white cotton. Center panel is balanced plain weave. Side panels are predominantly weft faced plain weave. Supplementary weft is double faced. Three panels, four selvedges. Woven on a backstrap loom." |
