Description | Body-sherd from a closed vessel. Fine, light reddish brown (2.5 YR 6/4) clay, covered on exterior with black paint, with decoration in added white paint. Wheelmade (?). Interior unpainted. Added white: floral motif above band. Although the light-on-dark technique is conservative, the organic quality of the decoration dates the sherd to LM I rather than earlier. It is possible the sherd is from a jar decorated in dark-on-light with added white paint on some of the dark areas, like MS4700.8 and MS4700.14. |
