Description | Thatching of palm leaf sheath, wall of bark cloth, carved and painted sculptures. Roof spire in the style of central Grande Terre (Boulay, La Maison Kanak p. 105). The carved piece that serves as a threshhold is carved as a lintel, not a sill, and may originally have gone over the door. Exhibited at l'Exposition universelle de Paris 1900. |
