Description | Wooden container with flat bottom, rounded sides and top. Bottom has sunken area with incised Japanese characters in five lines which says it was carved by an elementary school student in Japan. Around sunken area are three concentric circles. Bottom has lip for lid. Carving begins on base and continues across top of lid. Flower (peony?) brand and leaves motif. Mountain on base. Carving is stained darker than box. |
