Description

Small, square. Bottom is wood, sides are joined to bottom with small wood pegs. Edges of box and of lid are laced over grass binding. Lid fits flush with box; under side of lid is a piece of cardboard. First design panel shows 2 figures in canoe; second shows moose (?) apparently running in water (?); third has 2 crossed paddels and fourth 2 trees. Lid shows moose or deer under tree, within a frame of simple 'V's. All designs incised. Identifications by donor is on basis of similarity between this and 53-1-25; he believes it to have been made also by Tomah Joseph. In original owner's possession "for many years".
