Description | Bottle necked, one loop handle shoulder to neck. Black bottle with face on neck, sides covered with small protuberances. Face-neck vessel. Narrow-necked jug with a globular body, effigy-anthropomorphic neck, missing rim, 1 strap handle extending from the neck to the body, and a slightly rounded base. There is an effigy face on the neck and stippled surface texture with a burnished line down the center and around the neck. The vessel was likely fired in a reducing atmosphere as the surface is black and the interior is gray in color. The catalogue number is written in black ink. Black ink on the bottom of the vessel reads: "911." |
