Description | Underside unglazed (with cigarette burns?). Edge: reserved, with parallel vertical strokes in glaze. Top of lid: on opposing sides two identical female heads in profile facing right between two palmettes. Knob: stem glazed; underside, with molded profile, glazed except for one reserved band; top reserved except for central 9-spoked wheel design and an encircling band in glaze. Buff clay. Added white for necklaces and details of headdress of two heads and cores of palmettes. Intact except knob broken off at stem and glued on. |
