Description

Frieze of 5 relief stags on body. Bucchero, molded and tooled. Trefoil-mouthed jug, cylindrical body, slender neck, low flaring foot. Frieze of five relief stags on body, relief tongues and ridges on shoulder, plain strap handle. Two rondels with grooved concentric circles. Fabric: brown to dark gray core with flecks of mica (?), sandy. Smooth glossy black surface. Condition: patches of encrustation; damaged below left rondel. Chips missing from spout and rim. Technique: thrown in sections in a jigger on a wheel. Burnished.
