Aryballos

With a tap opening below, painted, red clay; checkered, dot and line ornamentation, small

Narrow-necked jar/bottle (aríbalo, aryballos) with an ovate body, hyperboloid neck, flared rim with lugs, 2 strap handles on the body, and a conical (aribaloid) base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel is painted with geometric designs on one side of the body and on the neck. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2845."
