Description | Pottery. Flattened base, shouldered, wide flaring rim; two vertical loop handles on body. Painted in broad zigzags and concentric circled. Red-black-white. Wide mouthed vessel with a globular body, flaring collar, rounded rim, 2 strap handles on the body, and a flat base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel is painted with a band of geometric zig-zag designs on the body in orange, white, and black. The interior side of the neck is painted with stripes in orange, white, and black. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior and a smoothed finish on the interior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is buff in color. Fireclouding is present on the base. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base in pencil. No other numbers are visible on the object. |
