Description | Globular with flattened base; swollen neck; one loop handle shoulder to neck. Crude. Plain. With face on neck. Face-neck vessel. Narrow-necked jug with a globular body, effigy-anthropomorphic neck, irregular, 1 strap handle extending from the neck to the body, and a flat base. The vessel has a modeled face on the neck including ears and nose. The eyes, mouth, and teeth are incised and there are punctate dots on the ears. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is buff in color. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1906." |
