"The woman's net--made and used by the women--is a scoop net
employed in shallow water. It is made on a spiral foundation of splints
from palm leaves. These are broken out, leaving an oval net, which
is fastened by the edge to a wooden hoop." Yoni, Sitia Chiefdom.
"Cast nets are thrown from the canoes. Their use is here demonstrated
by an expert on the beach at Yoni. They are weighted round the edges
and fall into folds in the water, enclosing any fish that may be underneath
them." Sitia Chiefdom.
