A NOTABLE addition to the Museum’s publications has just been received from the press. It is Ur Excavations-Part II-The Royal Cemetery, by Mr. C. Leonard Woolley, with chapters by Dr. Leon Legrain, Rev. E. A. Burrows, Sir Arthur Keith and Dr. H. J. Plenderleith. This work, which is published jointly by the British Museum and the University Museum, is in two volumes, one containing six hundred pages of text, the other containing two hundred and seventy-five pages of plates, thirty-seven of them in color. It deals with the Predynastic and Sargonid graves excavated between 1926 and 1931, including those of Mes-kalam-dug, Queen Shubad, and the other persons of high degree whose burials were accompanied by the treasures of gold, silver, and jewelry that are now so well known-as well as the many other graves of the same and the later (Sargonid) periods.
Through the generosity of the Carnegie Corporation of New York, it is possible to offer these volumes at a figure which will make them more generally available than would otherwise be possible. Until May first the set of two volumes may be had for $15; after that date the price will be $20.
