University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Athropology

The Kourion excavations have produced over 20,000 individual photographs, consisting of records of excavations, object photographs, and views of the site, people, and surrounding areas. In addition to providing a vital record of the excavations, the photographs also give us a glimpse into life at the site and the individuals who were there.

Through the generosity of John McFadden, nephew of George McFadden, the director of the Kourion excavations, the Penn Museum now has available almost 400 color slides taken at Kourion and other sites in Cyprus. The black-and-white images will need to be digitized systematically and thoroughly in the future.
