It’s time for a little rest and relaxation.

After more than 100 years educating and entertaining generations of guests, our beloved Sphinx is enjoying some well-deserved rest and relaxation. The Egypt (Sphinx) Gallery is now closed to the public to enable conservation of monumental objects in preparation for our new Ancient Egypt & Nubia Galleries. Miss the Sphinx? We’re collecting photos and stories to welcome him back when the galleries re-open in four to six years. So if you have photos with the Sphinx, post them on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter with the hashtags #sphinxtales and #sphinxstaycation and tag @pennmuseum! Be sure your make your post public, so we can share them here!
