Penn Museum Building Transformation
Penn Museum

Gateway to Egypt

Opening September 2019

The Gateway to Egypt leads from the Main Entrance Hall to the Coxe (Egyptian) Wing. Currently inaccessible to wheelchairs and strollers, the Gateway will be widened, made accessible, and filled with light by replacing walls with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the inner courtyard garden.

This bright passageway will lead to a new elevator and staircase that access both the lower Egypt (Sphinx) Gallery and upper Egypt (Mummies) Gallery, transforming visitors’ ease of access throughout the building. New restrooms will be added on both Egyptian gallery floors.
