Guided Public Tours

Journey through the museum’s galleries for about one-hour with a volunteer docents or Penn Graduate Guides. Topics range from gallery-specific explorations, like deep dives into Egypt, the Middle East, or China, and also themed tours like Highlights of the Penn Museum or Monsters, Myths, and Legends. In addition to the longer public tours, visitors may join Daily Digs, 15-minute object spotlight talks that are included with admission.

No advance registration is required and programs are included with regular museum admission. See the list of scheduled programs below. Visitors meet for these tours in the Main Entrance on the Main Floor, behind the Sphinx.

These Regional Rail Lines stop at the University City/Penn Medicine Station located across Convention Avenue from the Penn Museum.

30th Street Station services all regional rail lines and is a short one mile walk to the Penn Museum.

Specialty Tours

Visitors are invited to sign up in advance for unique themed highlights tours through the Penn Museum galleries that showcase the collections in a whole new light! The cost of the tour includes museum admission and the guided tour fee. Speciality Tours are available to the general public. Tour themes include: Ancient Alcohol: A Taste of Bygone Booze, Queens, Warriors, and Archaeologists, and Show Me the Mummy. Tours are led by Penn Graduate Guides. Visitors meet for these tours in the Main Entrance on the Main Floor, behind the Sphinx.

Advisory! Please be advised, parking is extremely limited during weekdays.

Garage 7

Located at the corner of South Streets and Convention Avenue, just east of the Penn Museum. The garage parking can be limited with garage filling early—usually by 7:30 am, some spots reopening after 10:30 am.

Advisory! This garage accepts credit cards for payment only.

Weekdays: 6:00am to 5:00pm $22
Weeknights: 5:00pm to 11:00pm $12
Weekend Rate (except for special event parking days): $12

Special event parking days are determined by Penn Parking Service. Special event parking prices differ from everyday prices and are subject to change without notice. Examples of these events include the annual Penn Relays, Homecoming, other Penn Athletics Programming.

Other Pay Lots

These lots are in the vicinity and metered parking is available on some streets nearby. The following lots are available to the public after 5:00 PM during the week for a $7.00 flat rate:

  • Lot 19 – 34th & Chestnut ($8.00 flat rate on weekends)
  • Lot 23 – 38th & Sansom ($7.00 flat rate on weekends)
  • Lot 39 – 33rd & Ludlow ($8.00 flat rate on weekends)
