| Description | Wooden Katsina doll. The face is unpainted (possibly white, originally) with multicolored zigzag lines above and below red-painted, downturned eyes. A "T" shape is painted in red in place of a nose. A patch of brown fur is attached to the top of the head and feathers are attached to the fur. Feathers are also attached to the back of the head. The body is mostly unpainted with white around the shoulders and a cloth kilt is tied around the waist. This figure is the Heheya (or Hehea) Katsina. (Colton, H. 1959 #34) |
