Description

Red pot with slight white marking around two horizontal loop handles and neck, encircling bands of deeply cut basketry

Narrow-necked jar/bottle with a globular body, bulging neck, flattened rim, 2 horizontal strap handles on the body, and a rounded base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel has a red slip and a deep incised geometric design around the shoulder highlighted with white paint in bands and in zigzags on the handles. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base in black ink. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "3313l."
