Description | Body-sherd from a stirrup jar, from the upper shoulder, with the stump of one handle and the spout. Medium coarse, reddish yellow (7.5 YR 7/6) clay with light and dark inclusions. Wiped with water and burnished. Lines around the handle and necks; octopus trail between spout and handle, on upper shoulder; bands on upper body. A commond type in Crete. Compare (among others) Kanta 1980: pls. 47, no. 1 (Chondros Viannou), 56, no. I (Kritsa), 57, nos. 1-3 (Episkopi), and 91, nos. 2-4 (Kumarospilio). |
