Description

Globular bodies, with bird on closed vessel. With whistle; (silvador)

Narrow necked whistling vessel with a double-chambered globular body, tapered neck, missing rim, 1 bridge handle extending between the necks, and a ring base/foot base. The vessel is red/orange slipped with white and black geometric designs painted on the double chambers. There is a bird whistle sitting on top of the neck. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink on the bottom of the base. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1593."
