Description

Kalighat painting on brown paper. Image from the Ramayana. Rama and his wife, Sita, sit side by side on a throne. Lakshmana, Rama's borther, holds a royal umbrella over them. Hanuman, the monkey god is below. The painting is done in a folk art style with thin, bright pigments loosely applied along with some silver paint.
