Description | Wooden pigment box with lid; lid is intricatley decorated with carvings of crosshatch, diamonds and tiny raised triangle along the slanted rim on all four sides; center of lid there is a raised smooth knob; directly above on rim is a hole, there is another hole directly below on the bottom of the box; sides on the body of box are carved as well with a type of zigzaging groups of parallel lines (similiar to that on lid); carved half circles on rim of bottom of box; bottom of box is plain with smooth surface; exterior of box is dark brown; interior of box has a red hue from the pigment it once contained. For the red pigment made of camwood. |
