Description | Core-formed alabastron of opaque dark blue glass with white and yellow threading. Base is rounded and vessel cannot stand on its own. Body is ridged vertically. White and yellow glass threads alternates in a wave pattern which follows the ridging, starting just under the shoulder and continuing down the body. Near the base, however, the waves stop and become straight lines for the last six lines. Just below the shoulders are two small knobs of blue glass probably for suspending the vessel. Rounded shoulder and a solid blue neck which tapers slightly in at the mouth. Wide, flat rim also of solid blue glass and may have also been used to suspend the vessel. |
