Description

Black Incasic Bottle

Narrow-necked jar/bottle (aríbalo, aryballos) with an ovate body, hyperboloid neck, flaring, 2 strap handles on the body, and a conical (aribaloid) base. A modeled animal head is attached as a lug just below the neck. The vessel appears to have been smoothed with a rotative movement on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in a reducing atmosphere as the surface is black and the interior is gray in color. The catalogue number is written in black ink. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2828."
