Description | Vermeule: Carnelian. Intaglio. (Modern Gold Ring Setting) A heroic figure standing to left, holding spear in raided left hand and a small victory on the extended right. A support with drapery and a sword appears at the left. The model for this design is the statue of Napoleon by Canova. There are two versions, one in the Brera in Milan and the other in Apsley House in London. Early 19th century. |
