Painted Wide mouthed vessel with a squat-globular body, no neck/collar, rounded rim, 2 horizontal strap handles on the body, and a flat base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel is slipped and painted with red lines outlined in white. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Fireclouding is present on the body. Evidence of usewear includes residue/accretions on the interior. There is a bulky gray accretion on the interior. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink on the bottom of the base. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1919." |
