Description

Samurai helmet ornament (maedate) designed to look like a sword. Attaches to stylized horns (kuwagata) at the bottom of the ornament and stands prominently beyond the apex of the helmet. Of metal construction with the surface painted gold, two recesses cut out end-to-end along the length of the ornament, and the distal end expands to form a diamond shape.
