Description

Body-sherd from the shoulder of a closed vessel (alabastron?). Fine, pink (7.5YR 7/4) clay with a paler surface, with decoration in reddish brown to dark brown paint. Wiped with water and burnished. Interior unpainted. Band; undulating line with dots; zone of vertical lines between bands. For the lines used as a frieze compare 697 [MS4634] (with LM I floral designs). For the carelessly painted wavy lines and dots see 748 [MS4637.100] and Hawes et al. 1908: pl. 8, no. 23 (Gournia).
