Description | Plain globular with bulging neck. See 29515 Narrow-necked jar/bottle with an ovate body, bulging neck, missing rim, unknown/missing handles, and a flat base. No molded/modeled additions. The handles may have broken off before/during firing. No decoration. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Fireclouding is present on the body. Evidence of usewear includes residue/accretions on the interior. There is possible remnants of food or other material at the interior of the vessel. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1112a." |
