Description | Pottery. Compound form; flat base; convex lower part; surmounted by cylindrical upper with nearly flat upper surface and flaring neck. painted with six pointed star on shoulder and stripes on lower division. Narrow-necked jar/bottle with a compound- globular and cylindrical body, flaring neck, outward sloping rim, 1 missing handle extending from the neck to the body, and a flat base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel is painted with geometric designs in white, black, red, and orange. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior and a smoothed finish on the interior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing and reducing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange and gray in color. Fireclouding is present on the body. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "928." |
