Description | The handle is elaborately decorated with carvings in relief and intaglio. The most conspicuous objects represented are at the top: 4 ellipses in strong relief, two of which have the surface carved into rings, so that they resemble warri boards: the other two have a plain concave surface. The half-oval has on one side a palmette, etc. and on the other a more distinctly floral design. Five prongs remain; one is wanting, with one corner of the half-oval from which they issue. See 37-22-164. |
