Description | Black-on-Red jug; Complete; slip and paint slightly worn; handle rotted and flaking. Vessel may have been misfired - surface shows numerous cracks. Heavy somewhat coarse orange fabric. Raised concave base; ovoid body with greatest diameter at belly; wide, outward flaring neck; slightly pinched rim; verticals handle from rim to shoulder. Encircling band around rim, base of neck; four bands encircling low shoulder/belly; ladder pattern on handle. |
