Description | Fluted projectile point. Slightly developed basal ears which are rounded and ground. Blade edges are slightly constricted above ears and then are convex to the tip. Basal grinding between the ears and up both blade edges to 23 and 26mm respectively. Fluting on both faces by removal of a single, shallow channel flake (25 x 11mm and 20 x 13mm respectively). These channel scars terminate in hinge fractures. Basal edge finished with secondary flaking and grinding. Other flaking is well controlled but with some hinge fracturing. Flaked at right angles to the edges. Manufactured of fine-grained, minutely mottled brown jasper, probably derived from the Durham Jasper source in Bucks County, PA. |
