Description | Maiden's necklace. Tebahang jet. "When she marries she lays this aside or passes it on to her younger sister" (collector's Journal). String mostly of alternating dark and light blue glass trade beads. At front a short pendant of four beads (striped dark blue, light blue and red), flanked by groupings of three yellow tubes dark blue tubes, and light blue beads. Groupings of yellow tubular beads repeated at fastening. In four pieces, restrung. A significant number of greenish-tourquoise beads, broken and therefore not strung, were apparently also part of this necklace. |
