Visit

Secrets of the Silk Road is now free with general Museum admission. All objects have been returned to China for conservation. The full interactive experience with replicas are on display through June 5, 2011.

"There are times, at the Penn Museum here, when you are almost hesitant to breathe....Most of these astonishing artifacts should have ceased to exist long ago."
--Edward Rothstein, The New York Times, February 21, 2011.

"The curtailed run of the show, and the magnificence of what it contains, make this… one of the hottest events on the East Coast. Even without the mummies, it is a must-see."
— Philip Kennicott, The Washington Post

Secrets of the Silk Road features the famous 3,800 year old “Beauty of Xiaohe,” an infant mummy, and more than 100 recently discovered artifacts, including extraordinarily preserved clothing, textiles, and food, gold jewelry and coins, and personal items. This unforgettable exhibition tells a tale of long-forgotten cultures along the world’s most legendary trading route.
