Description | Camp hat (jingasa) used by soldiers. This hat, likely made of wood, is relatively flat with a slightly raised area in the center. The elaborately designed exterior begins on a black lacquer base. The entire circumference is decorated with gold-painted plants growing toward the center. The center has two gold-painted roosters with wings spread looking toward one another. Both roosters bear flowing tail feathers and each has both wattle and comb prominently painted brightly in red. The interior of the hat is painted a mottled brown and gray. Four attachment points for the lining (ukebari) remain, although the lining itself is lost. |
