Description | Shoulder lekythos, complete except for handle and a section of shoulder. Disk foot, glazed above only. Lower wall glazed. Above it a reserved band, then a glazed band at the top of which is a purple, wheel-run line. On wall: scene of Herakles, at left, attacking two armed Amazons. Behind Herakles an armed male figure advances to left (Iolaos?). On shoulder, row of vertical dashes at base of neck and, below, lotus bud pattern. Neck reserved. Lip glazed inside and out except top surface. Surface of lekythos much pitted. |
