Description | Small Red Jar Wide mouthed vessel with an ovate body, flaring collar, rounded rim, 2 horizontal strap handles on the body, and a conical (aribaloid) base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel is painted with alternating bands of white and red down the body. The collar and handles are painted white. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2273." |
