Description

Sommerville: Onyx. Marcus Aurelius, 16th Emperor of Rome. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case J.

Vermeule: Onyx. Marcus Aurelius addressing Roman officials and soldiers. Scene is based on relief from a lost triumphal arch and is now incorporated in attic of Arch of Constantine. 1700-1850 Neo-Classical.
