Description | Sommerville: Antique paste intaglio, color deep sard. A representation of Chariot-races; each quadriga has four horses abreast. Interesting. Antique Pastes, Case TTT. Vermeule: Sard paste. Intaglio. (Modern gold ring setting) Four chariots galloping in a circle as if in Circus Maximus, Rome. Each is a quadriga, i.e., pulled by four horses. Roman Imperial. |
