Description

Wooden Katsina doll. The face is painted green and yellow over the bulging eyes and black over the mouth. The mouth is in the shape of a beak. Strings are attached to the back of the head where fragments of feathers are still attached. The body is painted red, green and white and a kilt is painted around the waist. This figure is the Long Billed (Wupamo) Whipper Katsina. (Colton, H. 1959 #41, Wright, B., 1973 #29)
