Description | Native tanned hide, pieced together on back, with hide fringe running along right proper edge. Beaded front consists of three inverted stepped pyramids with pendant. Diamonds in red, blue, yellow, and silver beads against a white background. Beadwork done in spot stitch using commercial thread. Overall condition good with some bead loss at very top and bottom. Some of the metallic silver beads have begun to rust. Inside the sheath is a wooden board with the word 'STARCH' on one side in red and writing in what might a sub-arctic language on the other. |
