Description
Pedestal adze. Blade (plaster?) lashed to top of an elaborately carved four-sided pedestal. Lashings broken and mended, partly missing. One corner of base deeply cracked at top. Non-functional, elaborately decorated pedestal adzes, which appeared following the introduction of metal tools, were produced for trade.
