Description | Three panels of white treadle loom cotton, lower half. Upper half supplementary weft. Indigo background with geometric designs in lavender, yellow, red, green, pink and blue. Panels joined with embroidered randas in yellow, green and lavender cotton, Neck band is heavily embroidered in floral and bird motifs. Yellow chain stitch background, satin stitch birds and flowers. Brilliant colors of red, wine red, pink, green, blue and lavender. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 26 epi, single ply, Z twist, one strand, white cotton. Weft: 34 ppi, single ply, Z twist, two strands, white cotton. Balanced plain weave. Three panels, two selvedges each. Woven on a treadle loom." |
