Description | Drawing in pencil and crayons on beaver board. Miss Wardle says it was given by Dr. F.G. Speck and represents a Bear Feast of the Delaware Indians. Fire in center with pole held high above by 2 forked sticks. Bucket suspended from it. Two men walking around it, one holding cup (?), dressed in long tan and blue shirt, head band, arm bands, neckerchief, yellow loin cloth, yellow leggings, leg bands and yellow moccasins. Other man holds small pail and cup, wears neckerchief, blue shirt, yellow vest, trousers and moccasins. A line of 9 men sit on one side of fire, 8 on other-are similarly dressed. Group of 5 women sit slightly to rear and one side of the line of men whose backs face the artist. In right background are two wagons (one with cover), 5 hours and two men. In left background are 4 horses. Bushes and 4 trees evident. Drawing signed- "Parks. 10. 1930." |
