Description

Sommerville: Quartz. a curious pebble with fine cameo portrait of Agrippina, 4th wife of Claudius. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case D.

Vermeule: Quartz. Cameo. An irregular pebble which has been carved with a draped portrait bust of a woman of the early imperial period, facing left. Sommerville suggets Agrippina, the wife of Claudius, and mother of Nero, a possible identification considering her coin portraits.
