Description | Center panel only; 3 selvedges. Weft-faced plain weave in red and white with weft brocade of zig-zag and chevron designs in horizontal stripes. Neck is appliqued with red cotton fabric and embroidered with yellow and orange silk. As per Sigrid Meier (1997), "Warp: 11 epi two single Z-twist white cotton. Weft: 46 ppi two single Z-twist in red, white, green, yellow cotton. Supplementary weft: two-faced in red, green, yellow cotton and purple, green, white, orange silk. Made on a backstrap loom." |
